TPS was originally formed as the Caterham Community Camera Club in 1964 by the Caterham Community Association. We changed our name to the Tandridge Photographic Society in 1999, to reflect our main membership area (but members from other area are welcome). Caterham has had a camera club for many years - there was an active club in the early 1900's. The society is friendly and informal, and aims to help members expand and improve their photographic skills by sharing skills, knowledge and ideas.
The society meets weekly on Thursdays evenings, at 8pm, from September through to May in Caterham on the Hill.
Society members' interests cover all aspects of still photography, and we are more than willing to give advice and guidance to new members. We hold exhibitions during the local Arts Festival, and our programme includes internal competitions for both monochrome and colour prints as well as transparencies. The society also competes in external competitions: both friendly with other local clubs; and in the Surrey Photographic Association's Inter-Club Competition.
Prospective new members are welcome to attend a few meetings to see what we do and visitors are welcome to any of our meetings. Details of Membership can be obtained from the Club Secretary
The society is a member of the Caterham Community Association, Surrey Photographic Association and Tandridge Community Arts, and is affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, via the SPA.
